Helpful Information

• Please help us by ensuring that ALL your child’s clothing, including shoes, coats, jackets and hats are clearly labelled with their name. If you do not want to go to the expense of having name tags made, then your child’s name with permanent ink written on the inside of a garment would be excellent. Many children do have similar style coats etc and it helps to identify them easily.

• We do like to go outside and play in all weather conditions so please help us by sending your child in appropriate dress for all weather conditions, e.g. outdoor coat, rain mac, scarf, gloves, wellies and hats for the cold / wet weather conditions, sun hat and sun-cream for the hot weather.

• We try to encourage children to become independent learners. So, if possible can you send them in clothes that are simple and comfortable to put on and take off, with a minimum of laces, buttons and zips. Pull on trousers / skirts, with elasticated waistbands and Velcro fastenings on shoes are ideal.

• We know that as parents you like your child to look and dress nicely, but we frequently do ‘messy play’ at nursery i.e. painting, sticking and gluing, water and sand play. Although we do provide aprons they still manage to get dirty in some cases. With this in mind, if possible, please do not send them in their best clothes.

• Children all have their own baskets to keep their belongings in, as well as newsletters, invoices, receipts etc. We respectfully ask all parents to check their child’s basket daily to ensure they are keep updated with all that is going on within nursery.

• It would be helpful if you could supply your child with a spare set of clothes for such occasions when they have an ‘accident’ with the paint! or enjoy water play a little too much… these must also be labelled. Spare clothes can hang on their coat peg but for health and safety reasons must NOT be in a plastic bag.

• On your child’s birthday you are invited to send in a cake for them to have a tea party with their friends. If you would like to also send in a camera we will take photo’s of them with their friends. As part of the safeguarding children policy the children’s parents will have signed the ‘use of images’ policy safeguarding the children within the setting before any photographs of children are taken.

• If your child is going to be absent from nursery for whatever reason please call and let nursery know before 10am.

• Parents are always welcome at Chatterbox. A close working partnership between nursery and home helps to bring the best possible care and education for your child.

• Please ensure you keep us updated with your contact details as they change, mobile phone, change of address etc. We also send out frequent emails keeping you updated of activities and events going on at nursery so current emails are required.
